He was born and raised in Seattle, WA where he currently resides. Best known as a fingerstyle guitarist, Tingstad has performed, recorded, and produced Alternative Country, Blues, Americana, Rock, Smooth Jazz and Ambient / New Age music. Tingstad frequently collaborates with woodwinds player Nancy Rumbel as the acclaimed Tingstad and Rumbel duo. He is also a principal founder, producer, electric guitarist and co-writer with The Halyards, a Seattle-based American roots rock band that includes Carl Funk and Larry Mason. Eric Tingstad cites early rock and roll influences such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and King Crimson. Other influences include The Kingston Trio, Flatt and Scruggs, pianist and composer Martin Denny, sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar, Mason Williams Classical Gas and the Hawaiian slack-key guitar. Eric Tingstad won a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 2003 as artist, engineer, and producer of Tingstad and Rumbel's, Acoustic Garden.[9] He continues to tour as part of Tingstad and Rumbel, an acoustic duo that remains a standard among listeners of the instrumental/New Age genres. In 2007 Tingstad recorded "Southwest", an instrumental album inspired by the landscapes of the American Southwest region featuring compositions in the style of what he considers "Ambient-Americana". Tingstad received a Grammy nomination for Southwests recording. In 2012 Eric Tingstad released his instrumental Americana recording Badlands, which includes an appearance by dobro and steel guitar legend Cindy Cashdollar. Badlands continues in the ambient-Americana style, deriving influence from Native American music, along with country and roots genres.

You can listen to Eric's Tingstad interview at: Noon, 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM daily this week. Seattle Wave Radio - Lifestyle Channel.

~ Seattle's soul singer Tess Henley ~

Linda Rez welcomes true-blue, soul-singing sista Tess Henley to the table for conversation and great music. Tess hails from what is quickly becoming the Capitol of Soul--Seattle, WA. Chosen as one of IMR Magazine's top Indie Women, she has several albums and a major musical contest win under her belt, and now she's anticipating the May 7th release of her hot new album, High Heels and Sneakers with Dice Raw from The Roots. Tess says her new album is a reflection of all her musical influences: organic, old soul with a twist. We'll play some of her new music in this interview. Tess comes from a musical family; her mom & sibs are singer/songwriters and she had a cousin, Carly Henley, who died tragically young, but had also written and recorded many songs before her death. Tess and her family honored Carly by fulfilling her dream of recording a full length album, coming together with the Seattle musical community to make it happen. We'll play some of that music, too. Join Real Sisters at the table and meet the fiercely independent, big-hearted and talented soul singer, Tess Henley.

You can listen to Tess Henley's interview at: Midnight, 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM daily this week. Seattle Wave Radio - Lifestyle Channel.

Listen to Real Sisters Talk Radio on Seattle WAVE Radio News channel and on the Lifestyle channel on our Android Mobile App

Tune in to hear the best indie Bands and Singer / Songwriters from Seattle, and the Pacific Northwest, on Seattle WAVE Radio

We love to play music together and have always had a fondness for the music of the 80s. After perusing our LPs for inspiration, the band put together a list of favorite songs and took up the challenge to become the definitive 80s experience. The synth-based dance music of the 80s is a rich tapestry of sound with layered keyboards, electronic percussion, and highly polished production. There are plenty of bar bands out there playing a rough approximation of those 80s hits. As the saying goes, "the devil is in the details". The challenge in playing such complex and recognizable music is to painstakingly recreate all the subtle nuances and tiny details. It's hard to do it really well, and we put immense effort into preparing these songs for performance, tweaking synth patches, programming guitar tones and dialing in the electronic percussion. It has to be right. But that's what makes the difference between getting it "in the ballpark" and nailing it. Band Personnel www.eightiesinvasion.com

Every Day
May 23, 2013 - May 26, 2013
At 7:30pm - 12:00am
Dimitriou's Jazz Alley

The Pacific Jazz Institute at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley welcomes Jazz Fusion group Spyro Gyra in support of their newest release, A Foreign Affair. Band members include Jay Beckenstein (sax), Tom Schuman (keyboards), Julio Fernandez (guitar), Scott Ambush (bass) and Lee Pearson (drummers). Show times Thursday and Sunday at 7:30pm , Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. Doors open at 5:30pm. A Foreign Affair (2011) is the story of five guys and their love affair with the music of the world. This album from the venerable jazz group Spyro Gyra takes you on a journey to the music closest to them, which, in some cases, comes from places farthest from them. A Foreign Affair draws from the experiences of an enduring international career. Its no secret that Spyro Gyra started out their career with the rhythms of the world. Since the samba rhythms and Caribbean feel of their early hits, these musicians have made it a point to embrace the music wherever they go. For instance, not long ago they played shows in New Jersey and Rochester, NY and then left the U.S. to perform in Turkey, Germany, Netherlands, Israel, India, Martinique and South Africa. That's in less than one month. That tour is something of what this new album sounds like, if you just add in a few more places. Its a sign of how enduring this bands career is that, thirty-five years after their first album, their four most recent albums were each nominated for a Grammy. One of the benefits of being in this band is that our music is popular all over the planet. Inevitably, we experience the local culture, and we absorb some of those influences, explains leader and saxophonist Jay Beckenstein. The guys and I were talking about what we wanted to do with this record before we started. We decided to make it all about that. Weve actually been talking about making this record for years. So, is A Foreign Affair a world music album? Beckenstein says not really. Its more Spyro Gyra being influenced by the world. Were not trying to emulate any musical style in its pure native form. Were not trying to play perfect salsa or traditional Indian music, for instance. Sometimes it means borrowing directly from another style, particularly in the rhythms, but mainly were flavoring our music with these influences. Its notable that despite the many twists and turns the musical styles do take on the album, it always sounds like Spyro Gyra. Its always going to sound like our musical voice, explains Beckenstein. Whatever we do, were always going to put our signature on it. Its so rewarding as a musician to be able to work with other musicians who can do so many things well. Spyro Gyra have performed over five thousand shows, released twenty-nine albums (not counting Best Of compilations) selling over ten million albums and achieving one platinum and two gold albums. 2014 will mark forty years as a band, and they show little sign of wanting to slow down.

Danny Godinez celebrates his birthday at the White Rabbit with an all star cast of musical greats. Danny Godinez Trio with Overdos featuring Farko Dosumov Danny Godinez A powerhouse guitarist with an appetite for destruction...and yes...he scrapes the plate!! Genre: World/Rock Farko Collective The Farko Collective is Seattles most groundbreaking, genre-stretching jazz fusion group today. The Collective is the brain child of electric bass prodigy Farko Rustamovich Dosumov. Originally hailing from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Farko became a US citizen and chose the incredibly fertile music grounds of Seattle, Washington to start his remarkable career. The Collective is truly a jazz fusion group. The compositions, all written by Farko, vividly display his extensive bass work for groups playing in the following musical traditions: Afrobeat, Latin, Blues, Rock, Jazz, Uzbekistani Folk, Funk, Ambient, Trance, Classical and many others. Combined with mystifying rhythms, hair-raising syncopations, lengthy solo sections, and highly orchestrated compositions, Farkos catalogue of work makes him an incredible musical resource in Seattles live music scene.

THE HOOT HOOTS FRIENDS AND FAMILY Julia Massey and the Five Fingered Discount, Wishbeard Bunny suits and super heroes. Rainbow cloaks and Vader onesies. Fuzz, synths, sing-a-longs, and yes more fuzz! Seattle power pop quartet The Hoot Hoots bring all that and more as they pledge allegiance to the United States of Have-A-Good-Time, and its obvious in both their live shows and in their two 2011 full length releases, Silly Lecture Series and Appetite for Distraction. In reviews of their live shows and albums, the Seattle Weekly has compared them favorably to the Shins, the Deli Seattle Magazine has praised them for their "flashy, out-of-control pop sensibilities," and countless audiences from venues across Seattle can bear witness to their dedication to creating a fun, energetic performance. Think vintage Flaming Lips with a splash of NES and a dash of the Unicorns and you get the idea.

High Dive Presents: Punk/Rock Aaron Daniel's One Man Banned Full Moon Radio Lucky Girl How it Started I lived in Honduras for three years playing music 5 nights a week in a nightclub down there. I was responsible for rocking out a rotating tourist community of backpackers and party animals. But I could never really keep a band together due to the rotating element, so I started to design methods for entertaining people all by myself. Once I returned to America, I had a hard time searching for band members and people I wanted to perform with, so I kept the solo thing going. I started researching and purchasing equipment to add unique sounds and textures to my presence, using beat boxing and refined vocal techniques to create rhythms and drum sounds through a loop pedal, and layering in guitars and harmonies to create a full band effect. Now I have been touring and performing all over the nation with the act I am calling "One Man Banned."
